SNC Lavalin and the state

The crisis now prevailing in the state due to the governor’s act of granting permission to CBI to prosecute the state secretary of communist party points out many important issues. It is evident that Governor’s act was in accordance with the public opinion prevailing in the state. And the party reacted to it by observing black day in the state which actually resulted in a hartal. The people of the state are so discontented with the hartals by various political and non-political organizations. Moreover this one was to support a person who allegedly caused a loss of Rs 374 crore for the state exchequer! Can anyone justify this?

Experts’ points out that the governor deserves all right to grant permission. It is completely the prerogative of the state governor. In this case the governor has done only that. Then seeing and alleging politics behind the governor’s action is being unruly to the constitution. A government cannot go forward by opposing the governor who is said to be the head of the executive. However voice of the CM seems different from the ministers. This becomes another problem. The listeners can easily come across the fact that the collective responsibility of the government is lost. This is a major constitutional issue.

These all arise from the fractionalism in the party. The so called party which stands for socialism is now behind the multinationals and capitalists for making crores in an untrustworthy manner. The party alleges that the SNC lavalin case is politically motivated and CBI is not a reliable agency. The people didn’t understand that why they are frightened to face judiciary if innocent.

One thing is clear that the party and the state administration are in a deep crisis. The common man is not much bothered with what is happening in the party. But the inactiveness in the state administration will definitely affect the development activities in the state.
